DH! Exclusive: Meet Jeremy Skaller, the Man Behind Jay Sean's American Success Story

DH! And how about Jay Sean? You're the man behind his success! What did you think when you first met him?

Jeremy: Someone recently told me I need to explain what I see and feel when I see this star factor thing. I saw him at a concert. One of my artists was opening up for him. There were like 2,000 screaming girls. Why they screamin'? Who they screamin' for? I didn't think much of the guy on stage because I couldn't hear the music because of the girls screaming. I'm backstage and I meet him and I'm struck instantly that this guy is a superstar. Everything about him, what he does, he just carries himself with this aura of 'I wanna know what he thinks, what he'll do next.' Just being around him inspired me to make music for him. I blurted out, after have only met him 25 minutes earlier, 'You should come to NY and work with me!' Then there was no master plan. No record deal. No Lil Wayne. It was just 'I have a studio. Let's play piano, guitar, let's just work.' He shows up in NY some time later, stays in this humble hotel, walks to the studio every day and just made music. And that's kinda how it all started. We were able to take it to the next level because the songs were actually really good. It wasn't about him being Indian or anything, he was just talented and had star power. That's why I wanted to work with him. All those copies being sold of "My Own Way" made me realize this could go someplace.
